Dropbox announces the Dropbox Platform, syncing with third-party apps, Mailbox integration

STUB Dropbox announces TKTK

At Dropbox's first DBX developer conference in San Francisco, CEO Drew Houston announced a new Dropbox Platform for developers, which is essentially a suite of tools to make it easier for apps to access data across devices and operating systems. Built on top of the Sync API, Houston says the new Dropbox Platform is designed to "replace the hard drive" and that "sync is the new save." There's the Datastore API, which lets you sync data like contacts, to-do items and game state -- so you can save your Angry Birds level across your different gadgets for example. Another key platform component is the "Drop-in," which lets developers drop just a few lines of code for cross-platform compatibility. Two such drop-ins are the "chooser," which gives apps instant access to files in Dropbox, and "Saver, which provides one-click saving to the cloud. These tools have been around already, but are just now available for native iOS and Androd apps. Some of the third-party companies that have signed onto the new Dropbox Platform include Shutterstock, PicMonkey, Asana, Yahoo! Mail, Animoto, 1Password, CloudOn, FedEx and Fargo.

As part of the announcement, Dropbox also touted a new feature for Mailbox -- that much-hyped app that Dropbox bought in March. It will now finally be able to send attachments directly from the app, which is something that the native iOS client can't do. All you'll have to do is tap the paper clip icon to open a list of Dropbox files, select your file and away you go. We've included a screenshot of the Mailbox interface after the break.

Oil price slips below $103 after strong gains

The price of oil edged below $103 a barrel on Monday, backing off strong gains made last week, when a stronger-than-expected jump in U.S. hiring suggested demand for fuels will increase.

By early afternoon in Europe, benchmark crude for August delivery was down 45 cents at $102.77 in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The contract on Friday jumped $1.98 to close at $103.22 after the Labor Department reported that U.S. employers added a robust 195,000 jobs in June and many more in April and May than previously thought. The job growth suggests a stronger economy.

Oil has also been pushed higher in recent days by instability in Egypt, where Mohammed Morsi was ousted as president by the military last week.

Egypt is not an oil producer, but its control of the Suez Canal, one of the world?s busiest shipping lanes, gives it a crucial role in maintaining global energy supplies.

The price of oil was weighed down slightly on Monday by the rising value of the dollar, which makes crude ? which is denominated in the U.S. currency ? more expensive for international investors.

Brent crude was down 81 cents at $106.91 a barrel on the ICE futures exchange in London.

In other energy futures trading on the Nymex:

? Wholesale gasoline was down 1.1 cents at $2.8856 per gallon.

? Natural gas added 4.8 cents to $3.665 per 1,000 cubic feet.

? Heating oil fell 1.4 cents to $2.9757 per gallon.

Wallabies coach under pressure

Sydney ? Australia coach Robbie Deans is fighting for his job after his team's demoralising 41-16 loss to the British and Irish Lions in the series-deciding third Test in Sydney.

The Wallabies' first foreign coach, in charge of a record 74-Tests since 2008, is contracted until the end of this year but Saturday's defeat is cranking up pressure on the New Zealander.

In a game described as a ?horror show? by the Australian press, the Wallabies knocked on from the kickoff with disintegrating scrums and soft defence in the final 20 minutes of the Lions' thumping win.

It was the most points the Lions have ever scored in a Test win in Australia, eclipsing their 31-0 victory in Brisbane in 1966.

There was speculation even before the third Test that Deans' tenure was coming to an end, amid reports that Ewen McKenzie and former South African World Cup-winning coach Jake White had been sounded out about their availability for the coaching job.

Former players have led the criticism of Deans with former Wallaby winger David Campese tweeting on Sunday: ?Deans must go now and (Ewen) McKenzie given the top job. Hope we have learnt that we need a AUS coach.?

Another former Wallaby, Lote Tuqiri, said on social media: ?See ya Robbie!!!?

Australia's media also hit out at Deans' role in the heavy defeat.

?The Robbie Deans era came to a catastrophic end last night,? wrote Jim Tucker in The Sunday Telegraph.

?Deans has had his shot. It is time to exit. Last night was a catastrophe of scrum penalties, poor kicks, the sloppy knock-on from the kick-off, errors and the selection blooper that dooms Deans.

?He decided to play the might of the Lions without a specialist five-eighth (fly-half).?

Former Wallaby Brendan Cannon wrote in the same newspaper:

?Player harmony is the biggest issue within the Wallabies and must be addressed.?

Deans was confronted with questions at the team's post-match press conference about his chances of survival and he stonewalled them. ?You don't presume anything in this industry,? Deans said. ?Those decisions are made by others.?

Asked whether he stood by Deans as coach, Wallabies captain James Horwill answered with an abrupt ?Yep!?

Pressed to elaborate, Horwill added testily: ?Robbie is the coach. He's contracted to the end of the year. He's a great coach. We'll review all that. Now, five minutes after I've just played a Test match is not the time to talk about coaching positions.?

Australia's next Test match is against the world champion All Blacks in Sydney on August 17. It's their opening match of the Rugby Championship, including South Africa and Argentina, less than two years before the 2015 World Cup in England and Wales.

Deans has had a chequered history of success during his time with the Wallabies with a 58 percent success rate ? winning 43

Tests and losing 29.

The team's failure to win what was deemed their most important match since the 2003 World Cup final against England means Deans still lacks a defining moment as Wallaby coach. His high point remains the 2011 Tri Nations triumph in the weeks before the World Cup in New Zealand.

He is better remembered for being in charge of shattering defeats to Scotland (twice), Samoa at home, a 53-8 rout by South Africa in Johannesburg and an ill-fated World Cup campaign in New Zealand two years ago when the Wallabies never recovered from a 15-6 mugging by Ireland in the group stage.

Also dogging Deans' tenure was the fallibility of the Wallaby scrum, which was again bossed by the Lions in the deciding Test and led to the sin-binning of prop Ben Alexander for repeated scrum infringements in the first half as he was overpowered by England scrummager Alex Corbisiero.

When asked why he continued to put himself through the pressure of being coach ahead of the deciding match, Deans said: ?That (the pressure) is why we do it. That's why I do it. We can't play any more, which is a great shame. It's a great game. It's a great privilege.? ? Sapa-AFP

Hi Guys,
Looking for some help. I took my 61 pioneer for a ride this morning here in mass. I stopped at a light towards the end of my ride which was about ten miles and the car began to shake and the red oil light began to flicker. It smoothed out when I accelerated but did the same thing again when I was backing the car into the garage. The car has a 318 poly with a pertronix ignitor 2 kit with the flamethrower coil. I have bypassed the ballast resistor by splicing in a piece of wire as per the pertronix instructions. The oil was recently changed and I put a bottle of gumout fuel treatment in the tank the other day. The are was running great up rt125 at about 60 mph and it was pulling nicely with plenty of power. I looked over my pertronix install to make sure it was set up right and I think its ok. Just trying to give a background to help figure this problem out. When I installed the new coil I removed the old one and it had a small condensor looking thing hooked up to the negative coil terminal. I just assumed I didn't need it. Any help would be appreciated. The fuel pump is fairly new and the fuel filter is brand new. I also just had the transmission rebuilt.
thanks,
Ken

Could be a vacuum hose has come off or split where it's doing it @ idle.

Agree with the vacuum suspect. Does the car have a brake power booster? My little 318 ran that way, the booster needed a rebuild... runs like a little top now

I think the clue here is the fuel cleaner you have put in, my guess is that the plugs are now fouled by the rubbish thats going through the system.

I am not a big fan of any of the mechanic in a can stuff as anything that it does loosen has to go somewhere.

Check fuel filter, carby (look in the fuel bowl for debris), spark plugs for lots of carbon build up

The shakeing and oil light flickering indicate low idle speed

Idle circuit blocking up in the carb can cause this as well as poor firing cylinders
